I am from

I am from a spiral staircase and building forts

I am from a canopy bed and yellow wallpaper

I am from a vacant dirt lot and piano lessons

I am from skinning my knees and a three-story dollhouse

I am from a wrinkled rose bush and a dead baby sister

I am from Ken & Barbie and broken promises

I am from vodka tonics and Encyclopedia Britannica

I am from butterscotch candies and a birdbath

I am from a church God and there’s no god

I am from cinnamon toast and singing in the choir

I am from hopscotch tetherball and art alley

I am from the moon, tides and limbs of a fir tree
